Allergens, small children and pets
Chocolate-covered raisins are a simple candy, and still not for everyone at the table. Here is who should pass and what each label says.
Do chocolate covered raisins contain nuts?
Not as an ingredient on any of the 18 labels in the lineup. But 13 of them carry a peanut or tree nut advisory, such as the "May contain peanut" line on Raisinets.
Milk and soy are the two allergens the labels name most. Bulk brands tend to add a line about shared equipment.

Small children
The CDC page on choking hazards for young children includes "uncooked dried vegetables or fruit, such as raisins" on its list of foods to avoid. A chocolate shell does not change the size or the chew of the raisin inside.
Yogurt raisin snack boxes are sold as lunchbox food, and at least one buyer review mentions a toddler. That is a choice for a parent to make with the child's doctor, not something a snack box settles.
Can dogs eat Raisinets?
No. The FDA lists both chocolate and raisins among foods that can be dangerous for pets, so Raisinets combine 2 of them in every piece.
Keep an open box off low tables and out of bags left on the floor. If a dog gets into a pack, call your veterinarian.

Are dark chocolate raisins dairy free?
Mostly not. Of the 5 dark chocolate ingredient lists in the lineup, 3 name a milk ingredient such as milkfat. Raisinets dark chocolate lists milkfat, nonfat milk and lactose.
A kosher dairy mark is a second clue. It can mean a dairy ingredient or dairy equipment, so a pack with that mark is not one to hand to someone avoiding milk.

No sugar added does not mean sugar free
One pack in the lineup is sold as no sugar added. Its chocolate lists maltitol first, a sweetener used in place of sugar.
The raisins are still raisins, with their own fruit sugar, so the pack is not a sugar free food.
On the pack: No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate [Maltitol, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Calcium Caseinate (milk), Milkfat, Soy Lecithin, and Natural Flavorings], Raisins (less than 1% sunflower oil), Confectioner's Glaze, Gum Arabic. Contains: milk, soy.
None of this is medical or veterinary advice. For an allergy, a child's diet or a pet that has eaten chocolate, ask a doctor or a veterinarian.
